"Consumed"
Consumed by the idea that racism stunts our potential to grow, thrive and flourish as individuals.
Consumed by conversations that will lift, build and destroy the forces that seek to destroy us.
Consumed by thoughts that my children and my children's children will never witness the injustices that I've witnessed in my 13 years of living in this world.
Consumed by actions that are strategic, well thought out and guided by the love for the people.
Consumed by continuous love in the world instead of continuous hate.
Consumed by healing that will penetrate and heal our melanated skin after years of lynchings, beatings, murders, rape, slavery and oppression.
Consumed by the universe hearing our wishes and desires and righting the wrongs.
Consumed by fearless brave warriors refusing to allow another day of systemic racism to impact the poor, black and brown communities.
Consumed by our worth being recognized.
Consumed by being able to drink Flint's water and it providing life and not death.
Consumed by being the light instead of looking for it.
Consumed by the freedom that shouts, not the fear that silences.
Consumed by my commitment to equal rights and justice for all.
Consumed by the beauty of positivity and power.
Consumed by togetherness, not division.
Consumed by dreams of a brighter, forward thinking tomorrow.
